Viewed collectively, the literacy outcomes of a total of 1,134 cochlear implant users were reported, with the number of participants included in individual studies ranging from 10 to 181.” The primary goal of this review “was to determine how cochlear implantation has influenced literacy achievement in deaf students.” Results of this work show that deaf students with cochlear implants are demonstrating reading and writing outcomes that far surpass those historically reported for the deaf population.
